As Actinic ecommerce specialists ourselves we are only too familiar with the problems caused by not having the correct configurations on the server itself. You tend to find hosting companies will only support a standard perl configuration and offer little or no advice when it comes to installing these necessary modules, even more so with a third party perl module like ActEncrypt.

Actinic needs some specific modules installed and configured on the server to perform at it’s best and without some of these installed you will receive errors or some entire systems won’t work at all. These are the perl modules that Actinic requires to function correctly :

Most of this is pretty standard stuff and can be installed on the command line with the exception of the third party module, ActEncrypt1024 which is a perl module written and supplied by Actinic to enhance the function and experience of the uploaded website.

Those of you who do use iOS devices, I probably don’t need to tell you how neat it looks and to those who don’t – well it should be something you should consider adding to your website. I have added a couple of pictures of how my icon looks on both iPhone and iPad so you can see what all the fuss is about. It is these little touches that a customer or potential customer remembers and also help them locate your icon (usually  your logo) and therefore your website instantly on their device without thinking about it.

We actually got a personal invite to a Google UK event held at one of their main offices in London only a couple of weeks ago, to which only a very few selected individuals and companies were in attendance. Unfortunately I can’t say on here too much specifically about what the event included, but I did get a few pictures of the offices on the iPhone. However, without revealing any secrets, the Event was brilliant. I got some superb insights of where Google is now and also the plans for the future, covering quite a wide range from Pay per Click advertising such as Google Adwords to Youtube and also Android. Also there was a good few hours covering mobile (searches/phones/worldwide) and of course desktop use. There was of course a large section on website optimisation covering I think a large amount of tips and tricks.

Of course we got a Google breakfast (Coffee, Tea, Pastries) and also a lunch which consisted of some Google branded water, Sushi and a selection of what tasted and looked like very expensive sandwiches.

As you might think, it’s very rare anybody actually gets to see inside Google and to be honest I feel very privileged to have been asked, thanks Google

Google UK offices are pretty much as you would expect, different to almost (I imagine) every office you have ever been to before! We are talking inflatable desks, deep plush carpets that your feet sink into and inflatable light coverings to name a few.
