We’re taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks and Trans-Pennine Trail

To raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support, CMS Live Co-Owner, Gemma and her dog Molly are walking 51 miles over the hills and through the valleys of Yorkshire. So far, they’ve already covered half of their goal, walking the 24.5 miles, including 5,000ft of climbing, of the Yorkshire Three Peaks in just 9 hours and 50 minutes on May 7th – three of the tallest mountains in the county. Not bad considering it’s generally walked in an average time of 12 hours! The walk offered some stunning views as Gemma and Molly took in the beautiful landscape of the Yorkshire dale, admiring Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough.

To complete their journey, Molly and Gemma will be walking along the Trans-Pennine Trail on August 13th.

It will be great to get the walking boots back on and get back out there, especially now we’ve really got a taste for the great outdoors. This walking bug has caught on quick.Gemma Starkie

It also gives Gemma another chance to raise more money for Macmillan, and the second and final stage of their goal will hopefully encourage a few more people to reach in to their pockets and donate to a fantastic and worthwhile cause.

With 2.5 million people living with cancer in the UK today, we have all been affected in one way or another. Even those of us who have been lucky enough to avoid being diagnosed ourselves, still all know someone, whether it’s a family member or a friend, who haven’t been so fortunate. Macmillan Cancer Support use their resources to provide support and care for cancer patients and their family through fundraising, volunteering, and campaigning. They strive to provide the best quality living they can, doing their best to make living with cancer as easy as possible. I feel so inspired and touched by what Macmillan do for their cause (and Molly does too!), and with cancer being such a dark cloud for so many people, I wanted to do what I could to help. So every little penny I can send their way not only means so much to me, but it will make a whole lot of difference to someone in need.
