A digital experience inspired by a taste of history
Mr Fitzpatrick’s Cordials has a story worth telling. With Victorian roots in Lancashire and a heritage dating back to 1899, the brand brings traditional cordials into the modern world.
CMS Live has worked across the brand’s digital presence, combining bespoke WordPress web design, custom development and Shopify e-commerce with creative imagery and search engine optimisation.
The aim was to create a distinctive online experience that reflects the character of Mr Fitzpatrick’s, showcases its range of cordials and makes it easier for customers to discover, explore and buy its products.

About Mr Fitzpatrick’s Cordials
Mr Fitzpatrick’s is a Lancashire-based producer of traditional botanical cordials. Its range includes classic cordials, fruit and botanical flavours, cocktail mixers and gift sets.
The brand has a distinctive Victorian and Edwardian-inspired identity. Its digital presence needed to bring that character to life while providing the practical features expected from a modern website and online shop.
This project involved much more than making the website look pretty and adding products. We worked across website design, bespoke functionality, e-commerce, imagery and on-page SEO to create a joined-up digital experience.
Bespoke WordPress web design and development
The WordPress website provides a rich introduction to the Mr Fitzpatrick’s brand. It brings together the company’s history, individual flavours, recipes and product information in a way that helps visitors explore the range.
We developed bespoke layouts and functionality to suit the content, rather than relying on a standard template.
Custom product and flavour pages
Individual flavour pages needed to display a variety of information, including descriptions, imagery, colours and product details.
We developed a range of functionality to manage this information to allow content to be entered in a structured way and displayed consistently across the website.
We also developed custom PHP shortcodes to display information such as nutritional details and floating images within the page layouts. This provides greater flexibility over how content is presented without requiring every page to be built from scratch.
The result: a more flexible WordPress website that supports the brand’s visual identity and makes managing detailed product information easier.
Recipes, FAQs and useful content
The website also features recipe inspiration, helping visitors discover different ways to use the cordials in cooking, baking and drinks.
We created a structure for recipe content and related recipes, alongside frequently asked questions covering topics such as products, orders and delivery.
This content gives visitors more reasons to explore the website and helps answer common questions before they need to get in touch.
Shopify web design and e-commerce development
Alongside the WordPress website, we worked on the Shopify store they already had to provide a modern shopping experience.
The Shopify storefront was developed using styling and customisation to support the Mr Fitzpatrick’s brand. The work included product and collection presentation, navigation, styling and the finer details that help an online shop feel consistent with the wider website.
Product collections and gift sets
The store needed to accommodate individual cordials, multipacks, miniature bottles and gift options.
We organised the collections and refined product presentation to make the range easier to browse. We also worked on the collection sorting order so that individual flavours and gift products appear in a more useful sequence.
Mix-and-match gift bundles
Gift shopping adds another layer of complexity to an online store. Customers need to understand their options and build the combination they want without unnecessary confusion.
We worked on the Shopify gift bundle experience, including the presentation and styling of mix-and-match bundles for three-bottle gift sets and miniature bottles.
This involved investigating layout differences between the bundle pages and refining the storefront so the experience better fits the brand.
Bespoke imagery and graphic design
A distinctive product range deserves imagery that feels just as considered as the brand itself.
We created bespoke fruit-themed flavour imagery to support the product presentation and give the different flavours their own visual identity. This work helped bring consistency to the website while giving individual products room to stand out.
We also considered the wider visual language of the brand, including its heritage-inspired styling, typography, colours and presentation of product information.
