CMS Live is proud to be supporting the Mayoress of Pendle
CMS Live is proud to be supporting the Mayoress of Pendle, Janet Starkie, in her bid to raise money for local charities. Each year, a variety of charities are chosen by the Mayoress as part of her responsibilities, and this year the focus is on disadvantaged young people.
To raise awareness and to support the fundraising efforts of the Mayoress, we have helped design, develop and host a dedicated website as a donation to the cause. So, what specific charities is the Mayoress focusing on this year – and how can you get involved?
Supporting youth charities
Although the Mayoress isn’t obliged to fulfil charitable obligations, Janet Starkie has wholeheartedly stepped up to this role. She plans on using her year in office to raise awareness and provide financial aid to some of the top charities in the UK for disadvantaged youths.
Her background as a primary, secondary and special school teacher, has been a big influence in the charities she’s chosen to support. The worthy causes she’s fundraising for include:
Safe Space Pendle
A fantastic charity aiming to provide accessible accommodation to Pendle’s homeless youths.
The Prince's Trust
This famous charity set up by the Prince of Wales, aims to help young people aged 13-30 to get education, jobs and training.
Lancashire Mind Pendle
Mind is one of the leading mental health charities, aiming to support those suffering with mental illness.
Pendle Young Carers
A charity which provides great services to young people taking on the role of carer.
Derian House Hospice
This charity provides specialist respite, palliative and end-of-life care to children and young adults.
Home Start
This charity helps families with young children with any challenges they come across.

Our donation to the cause
As a member of the Mayoress’s fundraising committee, it was important for Gemma to look into ways to boost this year’s charity fundraising efforts. The best way to do that was to create an online portal for the causes.
CMS Live designed, developed, and is now hosting the Mayoress’s fundraising website, which you can check out here. Alongside this donation, we are also undertaking the digital marketing of events and fundraising. We couldn’t be prouder to do our part to help such worthy causes!

Bringing local fundraising into the 21st century
One of our main goals was to bring local fundraising into the modern world. Creating a fundraising website for the Mayoress of Pendle has made it easier for people to get involved. Donations and event tickets can now be purchased online via PayPal, meaning it couldn’t be easier to make a difference.
As well as fundraising for these deserving charities, the Mayoress is also running her own year-long campaign. The “Buy-a-Bag” appeal aims to raise money for homeless youths, providing essential items such as hygiene products, towels and nightwear. Even a £5 donation can help to provide essentials to those who need them most.
